Re-election of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord

Sudbury, November 20, 2025 – During its organizational meeting held on Wednesday, November 19, the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord (CS Grand Nord) reaffirmed its confidence in its leadership team by reelecting, without opposition, its representatives to the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair. Ms. Francine Vaillancourt, school board trustee for the Greater Sudbury region, will serve a second consecutive term as Chair. Ms. Anne-Marie Gélineault, school board trustee for the Greenstone and Thunder Bay regions, will also continue her role as Vice-Chair for the 2025-2026 school year.
This unanimous re-election sends a strong signal of stability and strategic leadership. It demonstrates the renewed confidence of the Council members in the vision and commitment of the two leaders. “It is with pride and a deep sense of responsibility that we welcome the continuity of our mandate. This vote of confidence motivates us to pursue our mission: to work collaboratively with schools, families, and communities to offer an inclusive, equitable, and future-oriented education,” declared Ms. Vaillancourt and Ms. Gélineault.
Ms. Francine Vaillancourt has served on the School Board since 2018. Elected Chair in 2024 after serving as Vice-Chair for four years, she has distinguished herself through her involvement in key committees such as Business and Facilities, Human Resources, Special Education, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
Ms. Anne-Marie Gélineault, a school board trustee since 2006, served as Chair for four years and continues to lend her experience to the Council. She has actively contributed to strategic committees, including Policy, Business and Facilities, Audit, and Education.
With this renewal of mandate, the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord reaffirms its orientation toward continuity, stability, and strong leadership, essential values for supporting the success and well-being of every student.
Recognized for its innovation and openness to the world, the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord offers the highest quality public French-language education in fifteen elementary schools and eight secondary schools in the communities of Markstay, Noëlville, Greater Sudbury, Elliot Lake, Blind River, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Dubreuilville, Marathon, Manitouwadge, Longlac, and Thunder Bay.
