New principals and superintendent at Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord

At a special board meeting held by videoconference on June 10, 2021, the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord approved the appointment of three new school principals and a new superintendent.
Ms. Laura Ganyo Kayo, superintendent
Ms. Laura Ganyo Kayo is currently principal of St-Antoine school in Windsor. Over the course of her career, Ms. Ganyo Kayo has served as principal, vice-principal, educational consultant, teacher and scoring supervisor. Ms. Ganyo Kayo worked on many projects for the Ministry of Education, was a member of the EQAO Item Writing Committee, directed a teaching program, implemented strategies to foster better communication between students at school and worked on the new Mathematics curriculum. She also applied principles of equity and inclusion within a school community to ensure fair and favourable conditions for the success of all students. Her coaching abilities, listening skills and analytical thinking make her an exceptional educational leader who can contribute to the school board’s priority action areas and work well within the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord family.
Ms. Chantal Guertin Cousineau, principal of École secondaire l’Orée des Bois, Dubreuilville
Ms. Chantal Guertin Cousineau will embrace a new challenge as principal of École secondaire l’Orée des Bois. Having worked in this school for 13 years, her knowledge of the school and her dedication to the community are undeniable. Throughout the years, she has developed strong management, leadership and organizational skills. Her commitment to various advisory committees and school teams and her role as a leader in bullying prevention have allowed her to grasp the complexity and agility of program management and implementation, as well as school operations. The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is certain that with her commitment and energy, Ms. Guertin Cousineau will excel in her new duties.
Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Mohamed, principal of École secondaire Château-Jeunesse, Longlac
Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Mohamed will be heading to École secondaire Château-Jeunesse to take on the role of principal. Mr. Ould Mohamed is currently a teacher at École secondaire Cité-Supérieure in Marathon since 2013. A committed educator, Mr. Ould Mohamed has served as a coordinator of development and implementation of a numeracy and literacy intervention plan, a joint coordinator of a provincial robotics program and a school leader for mathematics and robotics. With his energy, expertise and motivation, Mr. Ould Mohamed will provide the students of E. S. Château-Jeunesse with a school environment that is conducive to learning and success.
Mr. Patrick Venne, principal of École secondaire Hanmer, Hanmer
Mr. Patrick Venne will be taking over the reins of École secondaire Hanmer as principal. Currently, Mr. Venne is the principal of École Ste-Thérèse in Val-Thérèse. His many years of experience in education help him recognize the uniqueness and potential of every student, contribute to their learning, ensure good relations between home and school and benefit from healthy collaboration within the entire school community. Mr. Venne also has experience in the world of business, which makes him particularly aware of the importance of trades programs in schools. His dynamic and humane approach based on understanding and problem solving will certainly be an asset for all students in the Hanmer school community.
In closing, the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord wishes to thank Ms. Barbara Breault (superintendent), Ms. Lise Michaud (principal of E. S. l’Orée des Bois), Ms. Léa Clinchamps (principal of E. S. Château-Jeunesse) and Mr. Jean Bigras (principal of E. S. Hanmer) for their commitment to students and dedication to their school and the school board.
The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord welcomes the new principals and superintendent to their new positions. They have all worked many years in the Francophone school environment and know the needs of their students and their respective communities. The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is convinced that they will play a vital role in advancing quality education and fostering the full development of their students.
