Election of a New Student Trustee for Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord for 2026–2027 School Year

May 6, 2026

Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is proud to announce the election of its new student trustee, Tim Nenkam, from École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier. Tim was elected for the 2026–2027 school year following a nomination process and an election held during a meeting with the Student Councils (AGE) of the secondary schools on April 28.

Passionate about science, this Grade 10 student quickly emerged as a natural leader upon his arrival at École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier in September 2024. A recipient of several awards for his digital chemistry project at the Sudbury Regional Science Fair, Collège Boréal, and Shad Canada, he combines academic excellence with community engagement within his student council. A dedicated representative and active volunteer at major school events, he is always the first to step forward. A proud member of his school’s Panthères soccer team, Tim brings energy and a strong commitment to serving others at Grand Nord.

“I would like to warmly congratulate Tim Nenkam on his election and extend my heartfelt welcome to him in his new role as student trustee. His perspective will help enlighten and enrich the collective work of our Board over the coming year. I would also like to thank outgoing student trustee Régis Desrochers, a graduating student from École secondaire de la Rivière-des-Français in Noëlville, for his deep commitment throughout his mandate, which will end in June. He has represented his peers with exemplary passion and insight,” says Ms. Francine Vaillancourt, Chair of Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord.

Ryan Cloutier, from École secondaire Villa Française des Jeunes in Elliot Lake, will continue his second year as student trustee. A true model of engagement, he actively participates in various school activities, including clubs, events, and community initiatives. His enthusiasm, leadership, and strong motivation in education will allow him to continue his excellent work representing the Board’s students.

As part of their mandate, student trustees will participate in all public and in-camera Board meetings. They will also consult student liaisons to report on activities and initiatives taking place in the Board’s secondary schools.

Student trustees will officially begin their 2026–2027 mandate on August 1, 2026.
