Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord HELPS THOSE IN NEED

The Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario is committed to raising awareness of a growing need in the Greater Sudbury community.  Seven Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord schools and the head office will be participating in a nation-wide walk called “Coldest Night of the Year”.

The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord team has already surpassed its original goal of $5,000. To date, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord has raised over $8,500 and has set a new goal of $10,000. All funds raised locally will be donated to the Samaritan Centre in Sudbury. The Samaritan Centre is dedicated to helping those in need. It provides essential services in a safe environment to hundreds of homeless and hungry people. In cooperation with member agencies, Elgin St. Mission and Blue Door Soup Kitchen, the Samaritan Centre ensures that Sudbury’s most vulnerable people are cared for with compassion and love.

While respecting the physical distance, the schools of La Découverte, Foyer-Jeunesse, Jean-Éthier-Blais, Hanmer, Macdonald-Cartier and Pavillon-de-l’Avenir as well as the virtual school and Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord’s head office will be taking part in a walk during the week of February 21-26, 2022. While raising awareness of this worthy cause, the “Coldest Night of the Year Walk” provides an opportunity for students to get involved in their community while raising funds for the homeless, vulnerable and needy.

Recognized for its keen sense of innovation and openness to the world, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord offers a French-language public education of the highest quality in fourteen elementary schools and eight secondary schools in the communities of Markstay, Noëlville, Greater Sudbury, Blind River, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Dubreuilville, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Longlac.
