June 29, 2026
Conseil scolaire Grand Nord continues its remarkable progress, earning 3rd place in the 2026 Top Energy Performing School Boards report published by Sustainable Schools, ranking among the most energy-efficient school boards in Ontario.
After placing 4th in 2025, this achievement reflects the Board’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and responsible resource management.
Over the past year, the Board has continued implementing concrete initiatives to optimize its facilities, reduce energy consumption, and strengthen sustainable practices across its schools. These results are the product of a collective effort involving maintenance teams, school administrators, staff, students, and community partners.
“Achieving 3rd place in Ontario is a testament to the outstanding commitment of our entire school community to sustainability. Our continued progress demonstrates that our collective efforts are making a meaningful difference for the environment and for future generations,” said Carl Dussault, Director of Education.
This recognition extends beyond the ranking itself and reflects an organizational culture rooted in innovation and environmental responsibility.
“This achievement reflects strategic decision-making, targeted investments, and a disciplined approach to energy efficiency. We are proud to see Conseil scolaire Grand Nord continue its upward trajectory and establish itself as one of Ontario’s leaders in energy performance,” added Shannon Chevrier, Superintendent of Business.
The Board extends its sincere thanks to its staff, students, and community partners for their ongoing commitment. This provincial recognition confirms that collective efforts toward sustainability are having a real and measurable impact.
