School boards have approved the 2026–2027 school year calendar for the Algoma and Sudbury districts.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (CSC Nouvelon), Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord (CS Grand Nord), Algoma District School Board (ADSB) and Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board
(HSCDSB) have approved the school year calendar for 2026-2027.
The four school boards have worked together to produce a common calendar, facilitating the coordination of services such as student transportation. Each board adapted the calendar following its own consultation process. The calendar will be submitted to the Ministry of Education of Ontario for final approval.
The 2026-2027 school year calendar will be nearly identical for all English and French-language Catholic and Public schools in the Algoma district, including Blind River, Chapleau, Dubreuilville, Elliot Lake, Espanola, Hornepayne, Manitoulin Island, Massey, the North Shore, Sault Ste. Marie, Spanish, Wawa and White River.
Overview of the 2026-2027 School Year
Elementary and Secondary Schools
• ADSB and HSCDSC school staff will begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
• CSC Nouvelon and CS Grand Nord school staff will begin on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
• CSC Nouvelon, CS Grand Nord, ADSB and HSCDSB students will begin classes on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
• The Christmas break is scheduled from Monday, December 21, 2026 to Friday, January 1, 2027.
• March Break for CSC Nouvelon, CS Grand Nord, ADSB and HSCDSB is scheduled from Monday, March 16, to Friday, March 19, 2027.
• The last day of classes for staff and students will be Wednesday, June 30, 2027.
