Inspiring Teacher at École publique Écho-des-Rapides Receives Award
The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is proud to announce that Ms. Geneviève Freeland, a Grade 5 and 6 teacher at École publique Écho-des-Rapides in Sault Ste. Marie, has been recognized by Grocer 4 Good (G4G).
G4G acknowledges the work of exceptional educators who have made a difference in students’ lives. At the 3rd annual “Come As You Are” Gala, Ms. Freeland was honored as Elementary School Educator of the Year for the Sault Ste. Marie region.
Ms. Freeland stands out for her unique ability to identify the individual needs of her students and address them in a personal and proactive manner. In addition to structuring well-planned days, she dedicates herself to identifying areas needing additional support, personally committing to ensure her students’ success. She uses real-life situations to teach, offering challenges that prepare her students for adulthood while guiding them through solving real-world problems.
Ms. Freeland places a special importance on her role as an educator, aiming to develop strong and confident francophone students. She also excels in identifying her students’ interests, transforming them into practical lessons such as financial management, consistency in work quality, and promoting confidence in expressing difficulties.
Recognized for its keen sense of innovation and openness to the world, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord offers a French-language public education of the highest quality in fifteen elementary schools and eight secondary schools in the communities of Markstay, Noëlville, Greater Sudbury, Blind River, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Dubreuilville, Marathon, Manitouwadge, Longlac and Thunder Bay.
