École publique Jeanne-Sauvé Receives Honour at Akwaba Sudbury 2026 Ceremony

May 21, 2026

Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is proud to have taken part in the Akwaba Sudbury 2026 ceremony, organized by the Association des Ivoiriennes et Ivoiriens du Grand Sudbury (AIGS). This meaningful event celebrates the welcoming of French-speaking newcomers, as well as the values of diversity and inclusion at the heart of our community.

On this occasion, École publique Jeanne-Sauvé stood out by receiving a recognition highlighting its commitment to welcoming and inclusion. This distinction aims to acknowledge and commend the school’s outstanding dedication to welcoming, integrating, and supporting students—particularly those from immigrant backgrounds—as well as its significant contribution to the vitality of the Francophone community.

The school’s principal, Ms. Lyse Bourré, was present to accept the award on behalf of the entire school community.

“Akwaba,” meaning “welcome,” embodies a fundamental value that Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord promotes in all its schools. Providing a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment is essential to fostering the well-being and success of every student, staff member, and family.

The Board warmly congratulates the entire team at École publique Jeanne-Sauvé for their collective commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment that supports the growth and success of every student.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers of the ANNA group for their valuable contribution to the success of this unifying event.

Together, let us continue building a community where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and included.

Recognized for its keen sense of innovation and openness to the world, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord offers a French-language public education of the highest quality in fifteen elementary schools and eight secondary schools in the communities of Markstay, Noëlville, Greater Sudbury, Blind River, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste.
