Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord Awards Its 2026 Distinction Prizes

SUDBURY, May 4, 2026 – At its regular meeting held on April 29, 2026, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord recognized the merit and outstanding performance of several staff members who contribute to the growth and well-being of students.
Three excellence awards are presented annually to recognize staff members whose attitude and efforts embody the Board’s mission, vision, and values, thereby contributing to its success.
The Étoile de l’accueil (Star of Congeniality) Award is presented to an employee of Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord who demonstrates the Board’s values in their daily interactions and beyond their official duties, including respect, appreciation, and collaboration. This year, the 2026 Étoile de l’accueil is presented to Ms. Jo-Anne Pilon, secretary at École publique de la Découverte in Val Caron. Through her professionalism, warm welcome, and availability, Ms. Pilon helps create a caring and welcoming environment for students, families, and staff. Her dedication and concern for the well-being of others make her an essential part of her school.
The Étoile de l’engagement (Star of Commitment) Award is presented to an employee who demonstrates openness, integrity, and sustained commitment in the performance of their duties and beyond. The 2026 Étoile de l’engagement is presented to Ms. Isabelle Ouellet, teacher at École publique Franco-Manitou in Manitouwadge. Ms. Ouellet stands out for her remarkable commitment to the success and well-being of her students. Through her consistent involvement, leadership, and desire to make a difference in her school community, she fully embodies the Board’s values and inspires those around her.
The Étoile de l’innovation (Star of Innovation) Award is presented to a staff member in recognition of their leadership and forward-thinking work methods. This award highlights an individual who demonstrates innovation, excellence, and creativity in their role. The 2026 Étoile de l’innovation is presented to Mr. Alain Prévost, teacher at École publique Hélène-Gravel in Sudbury. Through his innovative teaching approaches and commitment to the success of all students, Mr. Prévost enriches the educational experience and fosters a dynamic learning environment. His creativity and leadership make him an inspiring role model for colleagues and students alike.
