Appointment of New Superintendent of Education at the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord
The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Marie-Soleil Beites as Superintendent of Education, effective September 15, 2025. Ms. Beites holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Laurentian University. She brings over 20 years of experience in education, having developed strong leadership skills through her work as a school principal in both urban and rural settings within Northern Ontario’s Francophone minority communities.
“I am thrilled to join the extended family of the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord. I very much look forward to working with school principals, teams, and families to continue building inclusive learning environments that foster success for every student,” said Marie-Soleil Beites.
Ms. Beites brings extensive expertise in differentiated instruction, specialized services and behavioural support, along with an in-depth knowledge of Ministry policies and the Ontario curriculum. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded numerous student achievement plans focused on literacy, numeracy, well-being and inclusion, while valuing strong partnerships with families and the community.
“This experience has given her a deep understanding of the richness and challenges unique to remote schools and the realities of the Francophone families we serve,” said Board Chair Francine Vaillancourt.
Marie-Soleil demonstrates authentic leadership and emphasizes a collaborative approach combined with strong listening skills. “These are the qualities we consider essential to effectively support our school leaders and guide our teams toward tangible results,” added Carl Dussault, Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer.
The Conseil would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Norma Saad, who is retiring after a long career in education and more than three years of service as Superintendent of Education at our school board. Ms. Saad oversaw several schools within the Conseil and provided leadership on system-wide initiatives such as specialized education, well-being and mental health, and safe schools, among others. We wish her all the best in this well-deserved, new chapter of her life.
