The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord climbs to 4th place among Ontario’s most energy efficient school boards!
In just one year, the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord moved from 7th to 4th place in the ranking of Ontario’s most energy efficient school boards — a significant leap of which it is particularly proud. This ranking comes from the 2025 Top Energy Performing School Boards report by Sustainable Schools, a recognized reference in energy efficiency within the education sector.
This progress reflects the Board’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability, responsible resource management, and continuous improvement of its energy practices. Through targeted initiatives, strategic investments in infrastructure, and the ongoing engagement of staff and students, the CS Grand Nord continues to reduce its ecological footprint while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment in its schools.
According to Interim Director of Education, Mr. Alain Gélinas, “This significant progress is the result of collective effort and a strong will to take action for the environment. We are extremely proud to see our commitment recognized at the provincial level.”
The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord extends its sincere thanks to its staff, students, and partners for their contribution to this achievement. This recognition confirms that efforts toward a greener education are paying off.
Recognized for its keen sense of innovation and openness to the world, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord offers a French-language public education of the highest quality in fifteen elementary schools and eight secondary schools in the communities of Markstay, Noëlville, Greater Sudbury, Blind River, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Dubreuilville, Marathon, Manitouwadge, Longlac and Thunder Bay.
