New Interim Director of Education and Secretary of the Board at Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord

The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Alain Gélinas to the position of Interim Director of Education and Secretary of the Board, effective April 14, 2025.

Mr. Alain Gélinas currently holds the position of Business Superintendent at the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord. With over 25 years of experience with the Board, Mr. Gélinas has a solid expertise in financial management and school administration.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gélinas has been involved in a number of high-profile iniatives. As past Chair of the Regroupement des gens d’affaires (RGA) and of the Council of Senior Business Officials (COSBO) of the Ontario Association of School Business Officials, he played a key role in defending and promoting the interests of French-speaking school administrators. His career has also led him to work with various school transportation consortiums, notably as Chair of the Sudbury Student Services Consortium, where he worked to ensure the accessibility and efficiency of services offered to students. Mr. Gélinas has also played an active role at several local and central bargaining tables, lending his expertise to strategic discussions in the education sector.

With his in-depth knowledge of the education community, the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is confident that Mr. Gélinas will continue to advance key issues with conviction, while infusing his energy and commitment into the heart of the Board’s team.

The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord would like to thank Mr. Sébastien Fontaine, current Director of Education, for his commitment and significant contribution to the Board. His expertise, professionalism and passion for education have greatly enriched our school community. The Board is already looking for a candidate to fill the position of Director of Education on a permanent basis, and looks forward to sharing some good news with you in the coming weeks.
